Flood Advisory for April 30th, 2023

NWS New York City – Upton (Long Island and New York City)

FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 715 PM EDT THIS EVENING * WHAT Minor flooding caused by heavy rainfall is expected. * WHERE Portions of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey and southeast New York, including the following counties, in southern Connecticut, Fairfield. In northeast New Jersey, Bergen. In southeast New York, Rockland and Westchester. * WHEN Until 715 PM EDT. * IMPACTS Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS – At 550 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. – Additional rainfall amounts of one half to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. – Some locations that will experience flooding include Yonkers, Stamford, New Rochelle, White Plains, New City, Port Chester, Ossining, Peekskill, Nanuet, Haverstraw, Tarrytown, Mount Kisco, Dobbs Ferry, Nyack, Tappan, Greenwich, Harrison, Scarsdale, Pearl River and Oradell. – http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
