Citizens of Yonkers Want Lawmakers To Keep Their Words After Ida’s Devastating Floods

Yonkers still has to be cleaned up one month after Ida’s catastrophic floods. Many residents all around the city are demanding responsibility after being promised assistance.

The destruction was severe, including a massive landslide along Warburton Avenue. Property ranging from automobiles to patio furniture were destroyed.

Following the incident, Governor Kathy Hochul and other public officials came to Yonkers pledging assistance. However, neighbors claim they haven’t received any help so far.

We require them to appear and demonstrate that they care and keep their word, Annie Canty said, even if she acknowledged that there is a lot happening right now.

“The city, the county, and the state can all do well because they have the resources to do so. They are capable and wealthy enough to assist us,” stated Fred Santos.

And unfortunately, the problem isn’t going away anytime soon as, “This isn’t unusual since Yonkers’ hills don’t have enough drainage,” states to Dr Judith Deering.
