With the 2022 season of racing at the Yonkers Raceway officially over, fans will be pleased to learn that the 2023 season will commence soon with over 240 race dates scheduled.
The new season starts on Monday January 16, 2023. For the first quarter of the year, races are Monday through Friday at 7pm. In May through October, there are no races on Wednesdays, being replaced with a race on Saturday. The final months of the year resume to the original Mon-Fri schedule.
The Yonkers Raceway is host to many premier series throughout the year. First up are the MGM Borgata Pacing Series and the Blue Chip Matchmaker Series in March and April, respectively. June 2023 will see some first legs, and some finals, for the Trotting and Pacing Triple Crowns, the MGM Yonkers Trot and MGM Grand Messenger Stakes. The best horses in New York will race in the New York Night of Champions on Saturday September 9th. The last big final will be the aforementioned MGM Yonkers International Trot on September 23rd where a $1 million prize is on the line.
Horse racing fans obviously have a full schedule next year. And with the growth of the adjacent MGM Casino, we expect that part of Yonkers to be bustling every day.
