Police Department of Yonkers Take on Firefighters in Charity Boxing Match

The best and bravest of Yonkers competed in a boxing tournament on Friday night to raise money for several charities.

In the eleventh installment of this annual tournament there were nine matches pitting Yonkers police versus the fire department. Each bout consisted of three one-minute rounds. Ultimately, the Yonkers Fire Department was victorious, besting the YPD by winning six on the nine bouts.

President of the Yonkers Uniformed Fire Officers Association, PJ Goldfeder, was proud of the event and said, “This is the most important thing we do every year to bond police officers and firefighters together and to give back to the community we serve.”

The Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center and the Yonkers Police Athletic League were the primary beneficiaries from the Yonkers “PD vs. FD Toughman” charity boxing match. As of Friday night, over $70,000 had been raised from this event and over $800,000 during the sum of all 11 events.
