New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins made a statement on how few Republican members of the State Senate and Assembly participated as elected officials in New York State discussed a package of 10 gun control proposals.
“People speak about the one-party rule, you know. Good. If that is what it takes to address the public health catastrophe we are currently facing, then good,” said Stewart-Cousins. “We’re at a point where we all need to work together to raise consciousness to realize we’re not coming for anyone’s gun, but after a while, the guns are coming for us.”
The majority of people who live in Westchester share Stewart-Cousins’ displeasure. Moms Demand Action and Everytown for Gun Safety were among the organizations that backed the 10 laws that the New York Democrats passed and Governor Kathy Hochul signed, as well as tougher regulations like a prohibition on the sale of assault weapons.
