Open Letter to City of Yonkers Employees – Anthony Merante

Official Press Release from Anthony Merante

Dear Colleagues,

It has come to my attention that there are false rumors being spread by some about where I stand when it comes to our city workforce unions. Let me make this perfectly clear, I have always and will aways support our unions such as the CSEA 9169, CLSA-Police Officers, PBA-Police Benevolent Association, Local 628- Firefighters, Local 456 -Teamsters, YFT- Teachers, Local 704 -Service Employees and Local 1897- Municipal Employees. Your hard work and efforts on behalf of the City of Yonkers have not gone un-noticed and will not be forgotten.

Over the past 5 and a half years, I have had the opportunity to serve the 6th district as a Council Member. During those times, I have supported and voted for each contract extension brought to us by your bargaining units. I have also approved millions of dollars in funding, to facilitate the replacement and innovation of the tools and equipment needed by yourselves to carry out your daily duties. Your safety and wellbeing have been and will always continue to be a priority in my administration as mayor.

Please know that you have a partner in me, and a strong ally, as we move forward to rebuilding the morale and the rest of our city. Our first hurdle however is on election day – November 7th, and I am asking you to put a stop to the nepotism, and corruption that has plagued our city for far too long. Your actions on that day will determine the future for our city. I’m looking forward to working with you in rebuilding a great future for our families.

I thank you in advance for your support on November 7th, and I look forward to working with you, even closer, starting January 1st, 2024!

Sincerely,

Anthony Merante
