Warburton Avenue in North West Yonkers has become a default speedway. The winding stretch has been the scene of many accidents such as the one depicted in the photo that occurred this week. It has prompted concern from several residents in the area such as Robert Pargament. He stated, “The frequency of accidents was increasing and I knew I had to do something about it.”
Pargament reached out to Yonkers City Hall with no results. Undaunted, he consulted with neighbors and started a petition to generate interest in the cause. Although speed warning signs are posted, he would like to see the installation of speed bumps to slow the pace of the traffic. Within minutes after the petition was posted, signatures started to pour in.
According to Pargament, Warburton Avenue could use a brake.
