The incident came to light when several residents shared video footage from their Ring video cameras. This footage revealed Windley’s brazen attempts to access parked vehicles in the 4th Precinct in Yonkers. The YPD’s Crime Control Strategies Division sprang into action, leveraging both the shared surveillance videos and tips from vigilant community members to identify and detain Windley.

Windley now faces charges that include three counts of Attempted Grand Larceny 3. Subsequent investigations unearthed surveillance footage showing him trespassing inside a residence, leading to an additional charge of Criminal Trespass 2.

Windley, currently in custody, awaits his upcoming court proceedings.

A “Career Larcenist”

The latest arrest underscores Windley’s alarming criminal history. This behavior escalated when he became an adult, with a string of convictions ranging from Petit Larceny to Burglary. Despite being just 30 years old, he has earned the moniker of a “career larcenist” within the law enforcement.

The YPD took the opportunity to remind residents to remain vigilant and practice the #9PMRoutine, ensuring that their vehicles are locked and all valuables removed before retiring for the night. This collective effort from the community and police played a pivotal role in preventing a larger number of break-ins.

The Yonkers Police Department expressed gratitude to the vigilant residents who played a crucial role in Windley’s swift capture.
