After placing a $10 bet on a slot machine, Leo R. won over a million dollars at MGM Empire City Casino in Yonkers.
Big wins at the casino are not as uncommon as one would think. Just weeks before, another Yonkers resident named Walter won $925,488 on the same-type IGT Wheel of Fortune Triple Stars slot machine. With two big winners only weeks apart, MGM’s SP and general manager Ed Domingo said, “You could not ask for better timing to hit a nearly $1.1 million jackpot right before the heart of the holiday season. We congratulate Leo on his big jackpot win.”
Leo R’s $1,088,271 jackpot was the highest of 2022. The last million-plus winner was in July 2021. There have numerous million dollar winners including Theresa P. of Ossining who actually has two million-dollar wins under her belt.
Leo R. went back to work after his win. He intends to invest his newfound money into real estate.
