The Yonkers City Council Honors Women in Law Enforcement, Highlighting the Work of YPD Officers Kathy Salem and Alyssa Petrucelli

On October 10, 2023, the Yonkers City Council unanimously passed a resolution honoring and recognizing the important work done by Women in Law Enforcement. Majority Leader Tasha Diaz authored and sponsored the legislation. This legislation sets a historic precedent as it is the first time the Yonkers City Council has passed a resolution honoring the work of Women in Law Enforcement. Officers Salem and Petrucelli’s compassionate and considerate work involving a resident in need recently attracted the attention of social media. National Police Women’s Day is celebrated each year on September 12th.

I am honored to recognize the amazing work done by Women in law Enforcement every day here in Yonkers to keep our city safe“, said Majority Leader Diaz. “The compassionate work of Officers Salem and Petrucelli is something that the men and women in our Yonkers Police Department do every day. As a proud mother whose daughter is a Yonkers Police Officer, I know the effort put in by our Officers and look forward to continue to support our Police anyway possible.”
