Official Press Release from James Nolan

On Thursday, October 26, 2023 Westchester County Legislator James Nolan announced his support for renaming NY-987F overpass bridge to the “Detective Sergeant Frank Gualdino Bridge”. A bill that will rename the overpass bridge is expected to be introduced in the state legislature by Assemblyman Nader Sayegh. Legislator Nolan additionally announced he will introduce a legislative resolution to the Westchester County Board of Legislators in favor of the bridge renaming.

Westchester County Legislator James Nolan said “Detective Frank Gualdino is a shining example of an exemplary cop who loved Yonkers and committed his life to keeping us safe. Detective Frank Gualdino served as a law enforcement office for over 25 years and had served on the Yonkers Police Force for over 20 years. Detective Frank Gualdino gave the ultimate sacrifice in uniform and it is the least we can do to preserve his legacy of service for future generations to know. We will always honor our first responders and heroes. They will not be forgotten” Legislator Nolan continued “Thank you to Assemblyman Nader Sayegh, Westchester County Executive George Latimer, and my other partners in government who are working to make this possible.”

Detective Sergeant Frank Gualdino was killed in a vehicle crash on Tuckahoe Road at 3:30 pm. He was driving westbound when an oncoming vehicle driven by an unlicensed driver lost control and collided with his unmarked vehicle. Detective Gualdino was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
