Truck Driver Sentenced to Six Months in Jail for Stealing Trailer Full of Mike’s Hard Lemonade

Kelvin Garcia Liriano has been sentenced to six months in jail after pleading guilty to stealing a semi-tractor trailer full of 1,560 cases of Mike’s Hard Lemonade.

On March 21, 2023, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Liriano absconded with a $45,000 semi-truck. He entered the truck from its parked location in the Tandem Lot on Interstate 87 northbound in Yonkers. The 28-year-old driver from New Rochelle also took with it the 1,560 cases of Mike’s Hard Lemonade inside. The stolen cargo was valued at $32,793. Liriano then drove the vehicle to Brooklyn, where police discovered it abandoned and emptied on Atlantic Avenue.

A collaborative investigation commenced between the New York State Police along with Westchester County District Attorney’s Criminal Investigator Squad, the both the Yonkers and New Rochelle Police Department’s. Authorities ultimately arrested Liriano on April 17, 2023.

State Supreme Court Justice James McCarty heard the case in Westchester County Court. There, Kelvin Garcia Liriano faced a Grand Larceny in the Second Degree charge. He plead guilty to that felony on November 20, 2023.

Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced today that the court sentenced Liriano to six months in jail. In addition, he will serve five years of probation and must pay $42,793.76 in restitution.
