New Martin Ginsburg Park Dedicated in Greystone Neighborhood

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, city officials, and Ginsburg Development Companies (GDC) gathered on April 21st to celebrate the dedication of Martin Ginsburg Park.

The expansive new park, named for GDC Founder Martin Ginsburg, connects Warburton Avenue to the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail. The lush parkland features manicured green spaces, gardens, and shrubs. There are also plenty of benches to relax and enjoy the scenery and nature. Stairways and paths meander through the park, located adjacent to the River Tides at Greystone–one of GDC’s luxury rental developments.

Martin Ginsburg Park was created at cost of $1 million—an expense shared by GDC and the City. The park was named to commemorate Martin Ginsburg for his contributions to residential apartment-style developments in Westchester County. His most notable apartment complexes in the Greystone neighborhood include The Esplande, Riverhill Tower, Riveredge Apartments, 1177 @ Greystone, and Stratus on Hudson.

Grand Opening Ceremony

At Saturday’s dedication ceremony, Mayor Spano was joined by Martin and Irene Ginsburg, Commissioner Steve Sansone, Department of Parks and Recreation; Council President Lakisha Collins-Bellamy; Council Majority Leader Tasha Diaz; Council Minority Leader Mike Breen; Council Member Shanae Williams; and Deputy Mayor Anthony Landi.

Working with GDC, Yonkers is repurposing underutilized land, reimaging our public, green spaces, and reconnecting communities,” said Mayor Spano. “Thank you to Martin Ginsburg for his continued vision and partnership in enhancing public amenities and improving the quality of life for Yonkers.”

At the ceremony, Ginsburg praised the success of the public-private partnership the made GDC’s vision for the park a reality.

It’s a win/win for the city and the residents of the Greystone neighborhood who now have direct access to the Old Croton Aqueduct State Trail,” said Ginsburg. “Creating public greenspace is vitally important for enhancing the quality of life in our communities. At Ginsburg Development Companies, we have a proud tradition of designing attractive public spaces at many of our developments.”

Martin Ginsburg Park now becomes one more of several community park developments in the Hudson River Valley spearheaded by GDC. Other notable parks include Harbor Square in Ossining, a waterfront promenade in Haverstraw, a 1.8 acre park and pedestrian bridge in Hastings-on-Hudson, and a 52-acre expansion of the historic Fort Hill Park in Peekskill.

With its recent dedication, Martin Ginsburg Park became the 81st public park in Yonkers.
