New York Nurses Officially Scheduled to Strike

After over 99% of nurses in the NYSNA union voted to strike, hospitals like New York-Presbyterian are being given formal notice of that action.

There is a 10 day minimum notice requirement for the nursing staff to go on strike. From the above photograph taken in hospital, it appears that notice has been soundly given. In an Instagram post by @presbynurses , an independent group of nurses at NYP, the reaction to this news by the nursing staff appears as unified as their recent vote.

Nurses at New York-Presbyterian, and across the NYSNA union, are demanding better working conditions in their new contract. Their current contract is set to expire at the start of the new year.

The union itself is now announcing that strike notifications have been issued across 8 of the 12 area hospitals so far.
